Dane Cardigan ~ Handspun and Handknit

I am so excited to have my handspun Dane Cardigan all finished... I should probably steam it or block it again but it won't be worn until next winter, as the temperatures are reaching 30C here already, so I'll leave it until closer to then.
The Dane cardigan pattern is by Julie Hoover and can be found here if you'd like to knit it for yourself.

It took me about a month and a half to make even with a week or so off to recover from being knocked down the stairs by Chester *face palm*. I spun the yarn for this from bale 12 and 15 of the Aussie Bale Project (smokey brown and fawn merino/corriedale blend) on my Schacht Matchless. I used long draw to create a light and lofty yarn (perfect for trapping heat in without being too heavy).... there are a few thousand yards of singles in this cardigan as it's comprised of fingering yarn held double (each yarn is a 2 ply with one strand the smokey brown and the other the fawn).

Now that this project is complete you can expect to see some yarn being spun for the shop!!! I have a few colourful batts prepped to make some art yarn, some beautiful natural coloured alpaca and some merino/cashmere just waiting to be made into yarn for you to knit, weave, crochet or decorate gifts with. I also planto get some handspun yarn on my needles to make some smaller garments for the shop (think beanies and sweaters for little ones). I'm super excited to get started but for today I'm going to enjoy the beautiful warm weather outside with Magnolia and the puppies... we have flower and vegetable seeds to be planted and chickens and ducks waiting to be fed. Have a wonderful day!
